4797 BEAUMONT DR. LA MESA - A previous client has a Spanish home on MOUNT HELIX that was built in the 30's. After 70+ years their patio needed a little TLC. The mortar needed to be removed and replaced with some new mortar. Having done some restoration work at their home before they gave us a call. We removed about 1" of the old mortar from the joints and replaced them with some new mortar. We gave the joints a nice finish and the patio looks great!

4797 BEAUMONT DR. LA MESA - In the image below, you will see that some of the bricks that are in this patio have the stamp PBY Co. This indicates they were made at the PARK BRICK YARD COMPANY. This brick manufacturer was located at the southwestern corner of Balboa Park. They manufactured bricks from 1885 to 1888. There are only three structures remaining in SAN DIEGO that are known to have been built with these bricks. and they are in the Downtown area. They are the HORTON GRAND HOTEL, the VILLA MONTEZUMA HOUSE and the BROOKLYN HOTEL. These are all Historical Landmarks in SAN DIEGO. We were lucky enough to be given one of these bricks to add to our collection. We would like to find out where the bricks with an X stamped on them were made. If anybody knows, please give us a call.
