Ken Tidwell Masonry, San Diego Museum of Art.jpg

THE SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF ART BALBOA PARK - We just finished this restoration project inside the San Diego Art Museum. The Precast Concrete had been chipped and broken over the years and it needed repair.

POINT LOMA - We just completed this brick restoration project. Our client built this home in the 50's and chose a used brick for the front of their home. Over the years, many of the brick had weathered and needed replacement. We replaced the mortar joints that needed it also.

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - We just finished this chimney stack in time for Santa! Our client had a veneer that was falling off. We replaced it with the Pagosa Springs, Eldorado Stack stone. We gave it a detail with brick. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - Well, we started this project doing a little repair on the top of the chimney. Some of the manufactured stone had fallen of. The person that installed these pieces, had just stuck them to the paint. Our client asked if we could remove the other pieces to the roof line and install a new veneer that is done correctly.

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - We removed the veneer that was originally agreed upon. In doing so, we discovered that all of the pieces were being held up with the old paint that was on the chimney. We talked with our client about the danger of the pieces falling off and recommended that the entire veneer be removed and replaced. They agreed.

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - We removed the veneer and it came off in sheets. Evidence that we were correct in that the pieces were a danger from falling. After everything was removed, we attached the metal lath prior to the scratch coat. This is where whoever installed the veneer went wrong. They didn't put a scratch coat over the painted chimney before installing the manufactured stone veneer.

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - We got the scratch coat up and are ready to install the manufactured stone veneer. We will be using the Pagosa Springs, Stack Stone by Eldorado Stone. This product is being purchased from RCP BLOCK AND BRICK and their website is HERE.

9325 LAVELL ST. MOUNT HELIX LA MESA - We are about halfway done with the veneer. We discussed adding a detail with our clients. The detail is a thin-brick on each corner of the face of the chimney stack.
